Topshop Cream Blush in Butterscotch

Topshop Cream Blush in Butterscotch £6.00

Earlier on in the year I blogged about the Neon Rose version of this cream blush, however Butterscotch is hands down my favourite shade and this is the second pot I've bought. I'm slightly confused as to whether they have discontinued it or not as it is not available on their website and I found it quite hard to track down in store. I'm really hoping it hasn't been discontinued as it's a beautiful shade!

In the photos the colour looks browner than it is in real life. In the pan it seems to have a darker film on  the top which disappears with a couple of uses to reveal the lighter shade underneath - the swatch below is a good representation of the lighter colour.

Love the peachy gold shimmer!

Butterscotch is what I would describe as glowy, it is a light bronze with a peachy-gold shimmer running through. I actually find it more peach than bronze and it doesn't look out of place applied to the pasty skin of my cheeks. Darker complexions may find this more suitable as a highlighter as it is quite a light, neutral colour, however I find it works perfectly as a stand alone blusher and highlighter on my fair skin.

These blushers have a brilliant cream to powder finish which settles perfectly on the face, and despite the fact it gives a powder finish I still find my skin looks dewy when I am wearing this product. The consistency is good and very easy to blend, I am not joking when I say I slap it on my cheeks and go.

In short, I can't get enough of this product, I wear it at least once (but probably more) a week without fail, it's great as a blusher and occasionally as an eyeshadow. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it's not being discontinued, or I may have to write a letter to Phillip Green in protest!

Topshop Metallic Nail Polishes

From L to R Heart of Gold, Starlight, Moonshine £6.00 each Topshop

I came across this lovely trio whilst browsing the Topshop website, the blurb states these three limited edition polishes have been released to celebrate the 1st birthday of Topshop Make Up. I was really impressed with the gold colour in the Zealous duo from the Sandstorm collection (see here) and I have high hopes for these metallic shades. I currently don't own a single Topshop nail polish, I think this is something I will have to change asap as there are some very pretty colours available, perhaps I will start with one of these.

Topshop Sandstorm Collection

Sandstorm: Fall for sorbet tones and sun-bleached neons

I really rate make up by Topshop, even if it does lean towards the more expensive side of highstreet cosmetics. The Sandstorm collection, released in mid February combines bright neons with gritty metallics. I love dirty metallic colours, as they generally flatter my green eyes, I made sure to check out the collection in store and walked away with two items.

Tundra

My first purchase was the eyeshadow mousse in Tundra priced at £8.00. The colour is described as a khaki green, but i would describe it more as a dirty grey, it has a silvery-gold shimmer running through it and contains teeny tiny specs of glitter which catch the light beautifully - and I normally despise glitter! The mousse has a light consistency and is very easy to apply - I find fingers are best when using mousse. I was a bit disappointed with the colour pay off,  the product looks really pigmented in the pan, but turns shimmery and sheer on application, I find I really have to build the colour with this product. I was impressed that it lasted an entire day on my lids - and that's with no re application, it didn't crease either so full marks Topshop!

Equinox

My second purchase was the eyeshadow crayon in Equinox costing £8.50. I would describe the colour as a burnished gold, this is very pigmented and applies like a dream. The pencil is thin enough to use under the eyes and thick enough to apply the product to the lids. The consistency is creamy which makes it perfect for creating a smudgy metallic look, but once applied it stays put for a long time!

Zealous - I want!

The Topshop Sandstorm Collection has definitely brought out my inner magpie, I really love the grungy metallic colours in this collection. The other eyeshadow mousse in Glint looks gorgeous, but I just don't need another bronze eyeshadow. I am still debating the nail duo in Zealous £9.00, which doesn't seem to be available on the website, I tested it out in store and the gold colour is beautiful!

Topshop Cream Blush Neon Rose

Topshop Neon Rose £6

heavily swatched - top, lightly swatched - bottom

Neon Rose is the second cream blush I have purchased from the Topshop range, the first being Butterscotch. I normally gravitate towards pale pinks or nude tone blushers, but when I spied this colour it made me long for a healthy, flushed look and I promptly snapped one up.

Neon Rose is a pinky coloured blush with peachy, coral undertones, applied to the skin it gives a warm flush of colour. The consistency can feel quite greasy in the pan, but when applied it blends into the skin beautifully giving a cream to powder finish. I was initially worried that I would be left with greasy cheeks, luckily the formula is very blendable, giving a more or less weightless finish.

This product is well pigmented, and a little bit goes a long way. On pale skin like mine, only a minimal amount is needed for good colour pay off, the colour is buildable and more can be used to give a stronger look. Whilst it gives my skin a peachy flush, I imagine the coral tones in the blush would be perfect on olive/tanned skin and look stunning when worn in summer.

I find cream blushers are very easy to apply, I generally just use my fingers or sometimes a sponge. I predominantly use this colour on my cheeks, but it also looks lovely when worn on the lips. I find that the consistency, which works oh so well as a blusher, is actually very drying on the lips, so combining with a lip balm or alternative moisturising lip product is a must.

These are the first cream blushers I have tried and I am very impressed. Buy these blushers if you are looking for a well pigmented product that leaves a natural, dewy finish. These cream blushers have pretty good staying powder and are reasonably priced at £6. I'm pretty sure this won't be the last Topshop cream blush I purchase, I've already got my eye on Flush.

Stuff

I took advantage of the last few days of my Christmas break to have a nosy round my local shopping centre.
The shops are a bit of a mess at the moment...sale items everywhere, including the floor, and a weird mix of winter and summer clothing.....bikini in January anyone?
I picked up a few items....nothing of much interest, but I thought i'd share them here.

2011 Diary - WHSmith
The all important 2011 diary, this is actually really teeny....even smaller than A5. I buy a diary every year, whether I get round to using it is a different story. I chose this one because its handy size makes it perfect for shoving in my handbag, and I'm feeling pretty committed to being organised this year!

Clutch bag -  Zara
There was absolutely no need for me to purchase another clutch bag - particularly one made out of a material that will inevitably find itself covered in my grubby fingerprints. I had previously lusted over this bag on the Zara website, so when I saw it on sale for a mere £9.99 I grabbed it. I love the vibrant hot pink colour, and it comes with a detachable chain....yes I am a pro at justifying my purchases.

Cream blush in Neon Rose - Topshop
I've read good reviews on this and thought i'd branch out from my usual nude colour blusher/highlighter. I love the packaging of these products, so simple and cute.

Purse - Topshop
I have been on the hunt for a new purse for months. I hadn't come across one I liked, but with my current purse practically falling apart it was time to bit the bullet and pick one. I chose this leopard print number from Topshop. I don't think I'm completely sold on it but it has all the required compartments.

Et Voila!
