<br />
I am a total highlighter freak, so it was only a matter of time 'til I purchased the much loved Albatross by Nars.<br />
<br />
Being attracted to all things shiny, I literally ripped the packaging off this product to reveal the white shimmery goodness. In the pan the powder looks pure white and quite chalky, however when applied to the skin it transforms into a champagne gold, almost pale yellow glow. This highlighter feels high quality, there is no fall out and the powder transfers seamlessly to the skin. What I was most impressed with is how it gives a sheen to the skin, rather than a shimmer and there is definitely no chunky glitter!<br />
<br />
Being a Nars product this is at the more expensive end of the make up scale, costing £21.00, however a little bit of this product goes a long way so I can see this lasting a really long time....unless I decide to drop the pan and shatter the powder everywhere, which knowing me is a possibility!<br />
<br />
I do tend to neglect this highlight somewhat as I've come to favour cream highlighters, however for any highlighter freaks out there, Albatross is superb.</div>

<span style="text-align: justify;"><br /></span>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I chose Midnight Affair by Revlon for my first Freshly Painted in a while, the colour is a dark, inky blue, although the flash in my photo above picks up on the shimmer in the polish. In reality the colour is nowhere near as vibrant and only looks shimmery in the bottle, when on the nails it's very dark - similar to the colour seen on my index finger above.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As with most Revlon polishes I've tried the formula is thin and easy to work with. I'm not sure if this colour is still available or whether it was limited edition, but the navy makes a nice change to the summer brights I've been wearing for the last few months.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
This is one of Lush's staple bath bomb, I always see it everytime I'm in the store. In case you haven't seen it, it's the big pink one, well when I say big what I actually mean is huge - this one is a whopper! The bath bomb has a moon and stars pattern on the top, however this isn't really visible in my shoddy iphone photo above - currently attempting to be a blogger with no camera (mine broke). UPDATE: I found a better photo I took before my camera died, where you can actually see the pattern.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
After running the water, I plopped this one in the bath and as with all Lush bath bombs I've tried it instantly fizzed up revealing a bright pink colour followed by a blue. The in bath photo above is actually from the Lush website and I have to say my bath bomb didn't really look like that, I had nowhere near that much foam and the colours were not as vibrant.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
When the pink and blue had mixed the water turned purple - the colour of twilight, I was starting to feel slightly disappointed - I've spoken on here before about how I expect a bath bomb to have a bit of drama, then I noticed that the bath was full of bluey/silver glitter which made the water look so pretty. I came out of the bath covered in sparkles and a few days later I was still finding them on my face, nevertheless I loved using this bath bomb, it's especially great to use before bedtime as it contains lavender oil to aide a good night's sleep. Definitely one to try out!</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Too Faced is a brand who's name I always here banded about, but I have never really taken the time to look into their products. During a recent bit of online window shopping this palette caught my eye, I think the mix of colours is beautiful and it's definitely going to feature on my Christmas list this year. This sounds good enough to eat, almond and coconut milk - yum! There are rave reviews of this on the John Lewis website but ultimately for me this is super expensive for a body moisturiser, especially as I'm a bit of an infrequent moisturiser-er as it is. I swear I read that this perfume was being discontinued, but it still seems to be readily available in House of Fraser and Debenhams. Anyway, it is in my opinion a gorgeous scent that I cover myself in every time I enter a perfume department, it's really getting to the point where I just need to take the plunge and buy it! I don't think this perfume would be to everyones taste, it smells like Parma Violets and is a very feminine, high quality fragrance. <i><span style="color: #a2c4c9;">'Have a big hair day.</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><span style="color: #a2c4c9;">This is like having your hair lifted on a sea breeze.'</span></i></div>
<br />Another hair related post from me today, I wanted this shampoo from Lush as I have fine, straight hair which gets greasy quickly. 'Big' contains flakes of salt which I was hoping would inject some much needed oomph into my hair and possibly give me a slight beachy wave - well a girl can dream.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">
To use this shampoo you scoop out some of the product and massage into the scalp, I have to say it did annoy me when I saw that the container mentions using a 'generous scoop' of the shampoo followed by another 'generous scoop' for a repeat shampoo....errr Lush? Have you not seen the price of this stuff? I got eight washes out of this tub - that's eight single washes - if we're talking about repeat shampooing then this tub would only be good for four washes, which wouldn't be a problem if a tub of Big didn't cost £11.25. Granted £11 is not a lot of money but it seems quite a lot to spend on a tub of shampoo which you will only get four washes from. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The flakes of salt in this product make it different from any other shampoo I've tried and I actually really loved washing my hair with this, massaging the salt into my hair felt really clarifying and acted as a nice scalp exfoliation. I've read so many reviews of this product which say it produces a great lather, sadly I could never get this shampoo to lather at all and because of this I had to use more of the product per wash than I would have done with a regular shampoo - FYI my head isn't abnormally big.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This shampoo smelt fresh and clean which is probably down to the citrus fruits in the ingredients. After use my hair felt squeaky clean and super soft but I wouldn't say it was particularly voluminous and I didn't notice it staying clean for any longer than normal. Overall I think this product is a fantastic clarifying shampoo but nothing groundbreaking and I've had better results from cheaper drugstore shampoos.</div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Hello anyone who may still be out there, thank you for stopping by my poor, neglected blog, judging from my blogging habits it appears that I am mainly an Autumn/Winter blogger. With October well underway I have once again been bitten by the blogging bug and tonight I felt a strong urge to whip up a post, so here goes:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFURJw9MBHRqq-YdSfuHzExW9ECHS7a1LgRSqzI2uAgCTIcHOXLzDiK6KvKZsNfFwKXAxCD6-qSz9Xjb3D9rKIJAGJ6E6A3XTTCk6X-yIvbaKuPRbcN7sNrTGegh9bK0pCiV14mL6DYinP/s1600/Herbal+Essences+Hello+Hydration+Mask.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFURJw9MBHRqq-YdSfuHzExW9ECHS7a1LgRSqzI2uAgCTIcHOXLzDiK6KvKZsNfFwKXAxCD6-qSz9Xjb3D9rKIJAGJ6E6A3XTTCk6X-yIvbaKuPRbcN7sNrTGegh9bK0pCiV14mL6DYinP/s320/Herbal+Essences+Hello+Hydration+Mask.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><i><span style="color: #9fc5e8;">Excuse the boring stock image, it's rather late at night and this post is quite spontaneous!</span></i></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A combination of air conditioning, holiday sunshine, chlorine, infrequent haircuts and most recently - central heating has left my hair a complete disaster zone. Taking a quick assessment of my locks, it seems that even my split ends are sporting split ends these days. My hair is dull, lifeless and not too dissimilar in appearance to straw. Being a long haired girl I am a bit funny about hair cuts (it takes me a while to work up the courage to ask for my standard 2 inches off the ends), to tide me over until I book that appointment I grabbed a tub of the Herbal Essences Hello Hydration mask when I saw it on offer in Boots.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Containing orchid and coconut extracts (two of my most favourite things!) and costing somewhere in the region of £2 - £3 I slapped a load of this on the ends of my hair and the results were great - shiny, smooth and great smelling hair! Sadly nothing will fix split ends until you chop them off, but this product does a great job at making my damaged hair look presentable and at such a low price it has made me one happy bunny.</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Bank holidays offer the perfect time to indulge in that little bit of pampering you might normally skip on a regular week. I have a whole container of these Montagne Jeunesse face masks that I just never get round to using, so last night I decided to go crazy and use one.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I chose the Passion Peel Off mask as I had three of them - a result of Christmas stocking fillers and birthday presents. The peel off masks are one of my favourites as they seem less messy than a regular face mask, it also gives me enormous pleasure to peel off the mask, weird I know! To use you apply the mask, which was a red liquidy gel, to your face, wait 15-20 minutes and peel off, I used mine whilst in the bath and due to the heat not all the masked dried, however I did manage to peel some of it off.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The mask smelt sweet and fruity and it felt like it bonded quite tightly with my skin as it dried. Peeling off the mask after a good 20 minutes, my skin felt deeply cleansed. Mainly I love these face masks because they are so affordable and a little bit of fun, today my skin feels super smooth and soft.</div>Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01132276662325890747noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5964904547657225092.post-28539557167643594372012-04-30T21:35:00.001+01:002012-04-30T21:35:17.705+01:00The Body Shop Wild Cherry Body Butter<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
You can't go wrong with The Body Shop body butters, I love all the different versions and have numerous favourite scents. My current favourite is wild cherry, which smells fruity and delicious! The body butters are great as they are super thick and very moisturising, they do edge towards the greasy side of moisturiser and seems to take an age to dry after application, but I love to use them when my skin is feeling dehydrated.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I tend to always buy the small pots of the Body Butters, I get bored easily and like to change scents regularly. I currently have 3 different body butter on rotation: wild cherry, strawberry and shea body, although I think coconut will always be my favourite - no surprises there then! The 50ml tubs are £5 each and despite being pretty tiny they always seem to last ages, this product is an old favourite of mine.</div>Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01132276662325890747noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5964904547657225092.post-14576580122241613982012-04-29T18:40:00.001+01:002012-04-29T18:40:42.821+01:00Revlon Photoready<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><i><span style="color: #f6b26b;">Revlon PhotoReady Foundation in Vanilla, £12.99</span></i></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I can't believe I haven't reviewed this foundation yet, Revlon's PhotoReady is my go-to, everyday foundation and has been for quite some time. First thing's first, this product is reasonably priced at £12.99 for 30 ml, I find a bottle normally lasts a good few months. I also really like that this foundation has a pump dispenser...always good to be hygienic!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I love the consistency of this foundation the thin, runny liquid formula makes application and blending a doddle, it's thin consistency gives an even coverage and doesn't look cakey on the skin which is always a huge bonus! and the natural finish of this foundation is the main reason why I reach for it everyday, it's a perfect everyday foundation for work.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This foundation promises flawless skin, a claim which I think is a slight exaggeration. Whilst it does a great job of eliminating redness and giving an even skin tone, it is only a medium coverage foundation at best and any blemishes will require extra concealing with a thicker product.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Many people dislike the 'glittery' effect of this foundation, I have to say it's something that's never bothered me, the 'sparkly' effect on the skin is only visible in direct sunlight and even then it's not particularly noticeable because the particles of glitter/sparkle are so teeny, tiny. Overall this foundation gives me an even skin tone and radiant looking skin so I can't really complain that much!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I buy this foundation in the (lightest) shade, Vanilla. I believe there are 8 shades in the range and best of all each one contains an SPF 20, gotta love a foundation with SPF! I would definitely recommend this foundation, it's well priced and is perfect for everyday wear.</div>Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01132276662325890747noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5964904547657225092.post-40898402132128567602012-04-02T21:04:00.002+01:002012-04-02T21:04:27.634+01:00Revlon Red<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

Oh look another Revlon nail enamel!<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is the iconic shade Revlon Red, it's a classic red and a great staple. The formula was really thin (which I love), easy to apply, and it only took 2 coats to achieve the finished effect. Sadly thin polishes normally come with a down side and that is extreme chipping, this polish was no different and chipped like crazy, definitely one to pair with a top coat! </div>Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01132276662325890747noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5964904547657225092.post-42050436724397246292012-04-01T21:03:00.000+01:002012-04-01T21:03:27.895+01:00Real Techniques Core Collection<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<span style="color: #f6b26b;"><i>'The Real Techniques Core Collection kit by Samantha Chapman includes 4 coverage essentials: detailer brush, pointed foundation brush, buffing brush and contour brush. All of these tools are held in a professional case & stand.'</i></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Real Technique brushes by Samantha Chapman seem to be a hot topic at the moment. I like the Pixiwoo girls, so when I saw the rave reviews these brushes were getting I was very intrigued. My personal brush collection was severely lacking foundation brushes and I decided to purchase the Core Collection, costing £21.99 for 4 brushes. The price of the set is pretty reasonable when compared to the likes of Mac's brushes however they are not as cheap as brands such as Eco Tools (whose brushes I love!), a single RT brush also costs around the £10 mark, so buying a set makes financial sense....or at least that's what I told myself!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Initially I was surprised at how small the brushes were, even though I had read that they were small they just seemed....small! The brushes come in a black pouch which also transforms into a brush holder, I have kept the pouch but chosen not to use it as a holder, as I like to keep all my brushes together in one place. The brushes are made out of a lightweight metal with a black rubber bottom and feel sturdy, the bristles are Taklon and are nice and soft on the skin, I also haven't experienced any shedding. These are nice quality brushes and the small size makes them perfect for using on all areas of the face.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Core Collection set consists of (<i>From left to right in the photo</i>):</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Contour Brush:</b> Recommended to use for applying highlighter, I also like to use this brush to apply bronzer and I'm a big fan of the tapered end. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Pointed Foundation Brush:</b> This is a pretty standard foundation brush and probably the brush I have used the least from the set, however it's always handy to have an extra foundation brush on hand. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Detailer Brush: </b>A brush recommended for use with concealer or lipstick. I have used this with concealer and found it great for targeting individual blemishes that may need a bit of extra concealing. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Buffing Brush:</b> This is my favourite brush from the collection and the one I use the most. I have found it great for buffing in foundation, powder blushers and cream blushes as well as face powder and highlighter, it's a very versatile brush and the flat head helps produce a flawless finish. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have to say I love these brushes and the buffing brush has found it's way into my everyday make up routine. I have noticed from seeing these brushes in Boots that the single brushes seem to be bigger than the ones that feature in the sets, I have most definitely got my eye on the blush brush, stippling brush and powder brush!</div>Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01132276662325890747noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5964904547657225092.post-60324971560549455182012-03-25T20:48:00.000+01:002012-03-25T20:48:32.708+01:00Sunday Post<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This weekend has been a bit mad and I haven't had time to write a proper beauty post. Instead I just wanted to feature this video on my blog, even though it came out ages ago I love it! I am absolutely obsessed with the make up and styling, the retro feel is gorgeous and Beyonce has the most incredible figure! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend in the Spring sunshine!</div>

<br />
My love for Revlon nail polish continues, I recently picked up these 2 lovely pastel shades. I think they are from Revlon's spring collection however I can't find any info about them on the Revlon website.<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><i><span style="color: #c27ba0;">Charming</span></i></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
The first shade is Charming which is a beautiful lilac shade, it's bright, vibrant, fresh and everything I want in a spring nail polish. The formula was lovely to apply and dried to a glossy finish, best of all my nails were still glossy (but chipped) a week after application which is a real bonus for me, I hate it when nail polish goes dull. This polish was really easy to remove which was an added bonus.<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><i><span style="color: #c27ba0;">Classy</span></i></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
The next shade I chose is Classy. I really dithered over buying this polish, on first impressions I thought it was a bit of an old lady colour and not really that special, then I spied the promo picture (I can't remember who the model was...maybe Jesssica Biel, Emma Stone or Olivia Wilde?!) and really fell in love with the colour. Application was easy and I was left with a polished, glossy finish. I think this colour looks expensive, for some reason it always makes me think of Stepford Wives...I think it would be the perfect nail colour for them...am I selling it to you yet? This is a grown up pink shade, which looks quite neutral on the nails and gives my nails a polished feeling. Unsurprisingly my mum loved this colour.<br />
<br />
I've heard a rumour that Revlon are releasing a whole host of nail polishes this year to celebrate their 80th Birthday, this is fantastic news! I love Revlon nail enamels, in fact I think I own more Revlon shades than any other polish, they are decent quality at a good price and I can't wait to see the new colours!</div>Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01132276662325890747noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5964904547657225092.post-3609069356576180412012-03-18T10:01:00.000+00:002012-03-18T10:01:11.847+00:00Origins VitaZing<br />

<i><span style="color: #f6b26b;">'This multi-tasking moisturiser handles the vital jobs of hydrating, energizing and protecting to maintain skin's momentum all day. Gives skin the refreshing zing of antioxidant-rich Mangosteen. And adds a healthy hit of radiance that mimics the glow you get from a week's vacation. Slip it on first thing tomorrow - you'll look like you eat right, sleep tight & don't have a worry in sight.'</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
What a little wonder product this is and my first ever BuyaPowa purchase!<br /><br /><div style="text-align: justify;">
I'd heard rave reviews about this product but was initially worried it would be too orange for my skin - most foundations/tinted moisturisers are. When I saw it on BuyaPowa for it's lowest price (£20.50, normal rrp. £26.00) I thought I'd test it out.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
When it arrived I felt the tube was quite small, however it's a standard 50ml size which is the same size as a tube of foundation. When you squeeze the product out of the tube the liquid is white with little brown grains, as you rub the lotion into your skin it turns brown (well, skin coloured....you know what I mean). In all honesty I think it is ever so slightly too orange toned for me however it looks fine if it's blended properly. I find that you only need quite a small amount of this to cover your face so you don't need to use too much on one application.</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I was so impressed with the results of this product, it does a fantastic job of evening out skin tone, giving the skin a radiant look and it also gives my skin a very subtle bronzed feel. This product will be fantastic to use in summer when my face has caught the sun and I don't want to wear a heavy foundation, it also contains an SPF 15 which is always a bonus. Obviously this is more of a tinted moisturiser than a foundation and it's pretty light coverage so you will need a concealer to cover any blemishes or patches of redness.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I also really like how natural this looks on the skin, almost as if you're wearing nothing at all and the glowy, fresh look it gives my skin is w<span style="text-align: justify;">onderful! Sadly, I couldn't really capture the effect on camera, in fact all my photos were pretty awful, so no swatches from me I'm afraid.</span></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I was really impressed with this product, yes it is expensive, however you can buy it from places like BuyaPowa which offer it at a slight discount. I literally could not think of a more perfect product for summer and I have taken to reaching for this when my skin feels tired or dull, despite the price I think I would re purchase this product.</div>Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01132276662325890747noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5964904547657225092.post-22095004045845257502012-03-11T22:11:00.000+00:002012-03-11T22:11:06.681+00:00No 7 Vital Enlightening Highlighter<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<i><span style="color: #c27ba0;">'Awaken the new season look in a flash of radiance with the No7 Vital Enlightening Highlighter. This super-soft, almost velvety powder gives a luminous, natural wash of colour. The peach undertones add warmth while the pink shimmer gives a youthful glow.'</span></i></div>
<div>
<br /><span style="text-align: justify;">So truth be told the cute packaging may have been the deciding factor in this purchase, however I do take a great interest in the No 7 collections as I know the beauty genius of Lisa Eldridge is behind them. This Vital Enlightening Highlighter from the Spring 2012 Floral Brights collection was too beautiful to pass up.</span><br /></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The highlighter is a light gold shade which adds luminosity to the skin and looks perfect dusted on cheekbones or under the eyebrow. The powder is very finely milled, it is soft, easy to apply and very blendable, I have found that a little goes a long way with this product and it is easily buildable.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The packaging is sweet and girly, I love the pink flowers on the front, this is a compact I like to leave out on my dressing table. The box feels sturdy enough, however I am terrified of dropping this one on the floor, the pattern of the powder is so pretty I would hate to smash it!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Vital Enlightening Highlighter costs £13, however it's worth beaing in mind that Boots are currently running their £5 off No 7 voucher. I was in my local Boots over the weekend and there were still a few of these milling about, however my advice would be to snap one up quick.</div>Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01132276662325890747noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5964904547657225092.post-2999999265748937782012-03-07T18:22:00.000+00:002012-03-07T18:23:13.062+00:00Happy Hump Day!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Apologies for the impromptu blogging hiatus, there I was in my last blog entry promising lots more post and then I go and disappear for a month. I have really missed posting and my little break from the blogesphere has been in no way intentional, more a case of a heavy work schedule coupled with an oddly busy social life.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My February spending ban on cosmetics (finally!) ended with the start of a new month, so naturally the first weekend of March brought on a frantic cosmetic dash around both Boots and Superdrug grabbing all the products I'd wanted to try for the last month but hadn't been able to....kind of defeats the point of a spending ban a bit I know!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>

Anyway, in case I still have any readers of this blog I just wanted to say I'm back and armed with new products ;) Also how beautiful are these pictures of Katy Perry for Interview magazine? It will come as no surprise to anyone who knows me that I'm a huge Katy Perry fan, yes her music isn't the best but I think she comes across as a nice person with bundles of energy. I love the way she is channelling Elizabeth Taylor in these pictures.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
This eyeshadow quad (named Dinner and a Show) from NYC is part of the Colour Instinct range. It was purchased in a grab and buy situation from Superdrug a few weeks ago and cost me £2.49. Sadly it's not on the Superdrug website so I'm unsure if that was the permanent price or whether it was on offer. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I grabbed this mainly because it was so cheap and as a lover of brown and nude shadows it never hurts to have back ups. A tiny amount of navy blue shadow is included in this palette which I think is a bit of an odd colour choice, blue and brown aren't exactly two colours I'd always put together! Instead I think they should have gone with a black or maybe even an olive green eyeshadow, anyway for £2.49 I guess you can't complain.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This palette contains four eyeshadows, due to how they are arranged (which looks very pretty) each eyeshadow differs in size. Having swatched them the colour pay off isn't outstanding....but then being so cheap I wouldn't expect it to be! I was pleasantly surprised with the two lightest shades which are shimmery and do have fairly good pigmentation. The two darker shades are both matte and whilst not amazingly pigmented, they are buildable. I don't think I'll get much wear out of the blue but the brown is a good shade - you can never have too many browns or neutrals!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The staying powder is ok, obviously it had mostly disappeared by the end of the day, but I didn't notice it wearing off quicker than any other eyeshadows I own.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I have never purchased anything from NYC before, it normally sits next to the Miss Sporty stand in what I refer to as the teen make up section of Superdrug. Eyeing the display I did spot a few little gems in the range and I have heard great things about the colour wheel blushers, so perhaps that will be the next purchase. Let me know in the comments if you've ever purchased anything from the NYC range.</div>Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01132276662325890747noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5964904547657225092.post-7044183721091206242012-02-08T21:47:00.000+00:002012-02-08T21:47:53.582+00:00Lush Magic Mushroom<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

Despite receiving a ridiculous amount of Lush goodies for Christmas (on top of my already healthy stash!) I couldn't resist browsing the Lush Valentine's range. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I limited myself to just one goodie from the range and opted for the Magic Mushroom bubble bar, which is a product I have never tried before. Firstly, it looks really cute, just like one of the mushrooms from Fantasia, shall I insert the Youtube video for added effect? Oh go on then...</div>
<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
The smell of this product really won me over, it's a lovely vanilla smell mixed with the fruity scent of strawberries and cream, all in all it smells sweet and very girly. The lady in the store advised me to split the bar between two baths, so I crumbled one half into a bath. It turns out half a bar is perfect and it produced lots of lovely creamy bubbles, softened the water and turned my bathwater a shade of pinky/red.</div>

This was a really fun bubble bar to use and pretty inexpensive at only £2.45 per bar. The fruity scent is gorgeous and whilst I'm sad it's only a seasonal product, I still have the other half to use up...maybe I'll purchase a few more before they disappear :)</div>Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01132276662325890747noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5964904547657225092.post-5007824702361126112012-02-06T19:24:00.001+00:002012-02-06T19:24:52.519+00:00Philosophy Cinnamon Buns and a ramble<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I used this for the first time today since I received it for Christmas. Scented products are nothing new, but Philosophy's products are in a league of their own. This 3 in 1 shower gel, bubble bath and shampoo actually smells <span style="color: #c27ba0;"><b>exactly </b></span>like cinnamon buns - so lovely and comforting on a cold day such as today!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Starting from this month I have put myself on a bit of a makeup spending ban as to be honest I have far too much make up, some of which I've barely even swatched, let alone worn. I feel it's definitely time to use and enjoy some of the products I have rather than purchasing more. Never fear I have a nice backlog of products I want to discuss and review so there are plenty more blog posts to come.<br />

Also, on a final note I've noticed a little influx of new followers, hello to you all and thanks for following, it really means a lot :) <i><span style="color: #c27ba0;">x</span></i></div>Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01132276662325890747noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5964904547657225092.post-39895596264730886562012-02-05T11:09:00.001+00:002012-02-05T11:09:45.381+00:00Freshly Painted: Models Own Utopia<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
I seem to be purchasing quite a few items off my wishlist recently, this includes Utopia by Models Own. Utopia is an interesting murky, lilac, pink colour, for some reason it makes me think of pink concrete.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I put off purchasing this shade as I wasn't sure if it was pretty enough, but after seeing it on countless blogs I began to really love the look of it on the nails. The formula is standard Models Own and easy to apply, taking two coats to achieve the look in the photo.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I think this is the perfect February nail colour, it has all the pastely pink goodness of spring (not to mention Valentines Day) but is coupled with the murkiness reminiscent of grey clouds, rain and even snow(!) that we get around this time of year.</div>Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01132276662325890747noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5964904547657225092.post-63585419858656197712012-01-30T19:58:00.000+00:002012-01-30T19:58:37.061+00:00Nars Deep Throat<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
My first Nars purchase...yes I am a bit late on the bandwaggon.<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Nars are pretty famous for their blushers and bronzers, I chose Deep Throat (Nars are also pretty famous for their risque names) which is a beautiful light pinky/peach with a slight gold shimmer. It has been described as Orgasm's toned down sister, which is perfect for me...whilst Orgasm is a beautiful blush I don't actively welcome strong pinky/red tones on my cheeks (I'm more a shimmer girl) Deep Throat provides a beautiful wash of colour which is pretty and flattering.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The powder is finely milled and the colour is quite light but easily buildable and well suited to my pale skin. This is a great everyday blush, it looks very natural and has become my go to blusher since I purchased it. At £20.50 it's not particularly cheap but it's good quality, long lasting and very pretty. The only complaint would be the packaging, whilst it looks good and is very sturdy (and comes with a good sized mirror) the black packaging is a magnet for grubby fingerprints.</div>Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01132276662325890747noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5964904547657225092.post-88407853162419921132012-01-23T18:26:00.000+00:002012-01-23T18:26:08.238+00:00L'Oreal Colour Infallible Eye Shadows<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

These little pots have been doing the rounds recently, being a bit of a magpie for shiny things I picked a couple of them up myself. My local stores don't stock a very good selection of colours but these two gold shades caught my eye.</div>

As you can see these are rich, heavily pigmented and ultra shimmery shadows. I would say they are more suited to night time wear, for me that are just that bit too sparkly for the day.<br />
<br />
The packaging is good, the little pots are sleek and come with a black compactor tool so you can compress the eyeshadow meaning the product doesn't fly everywhere like other loose pigments *cough* Barry M *cough*.<br />
<br />
The consistency of these shadows is pretty unique, they are actually loose powder yet have a really velvety, smooth and creamy texture, I find it is best to apply this product using fingers and then use a brush to blend out the colour.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
These shadows have fantastic staying power and L'oreal states they last a whole 24 hours, whilst I haven't put that claim to the test I have been impressed with how long wearing they are. These shadows are also waterproof, so I'm thinking they could be the perfect eyeshadow for a night out: shimmery, heavily pigmented and hard wearing! For such a great price these are really worth trying out and I think L'oreal have come up with something pretty special here.</div>Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01132276662325890747noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5964904547657225092.post-89849548531656060492012-01-22T15:07:00.000+00:002012-01-22T15:07:26.706+00:00Une Skin Glow Pencil<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Une answered my quest for a drugstore nude eye pencil with their Skin Glow pencil. I'm not a massive lover of Une, whilst I appreciate is is the younger, more natural sister of Bourjois, I find the range hard to shop, the packaging is so white and minimalist and all the products seem to look the same.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I grabbed this pencil in shade GO2 which was the lightest I could find (the stand was a bit of a mess) and seems to be a pretty good match to my skin tone. Further research has uncovered that there are actually 4 shades in the range, GO2 is the second lightest. The pencil is priced at £6.99 which is in keeping with the brand's pricing, although I would say it is priced slightly higher than average for a drugstore brand. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Onto the review: the pencil has a creamy, blendable formula which makes it great for applying to the skin i.e. to highlight the inner corner of the eye of the cupid's bow. It has a very slight dewy look once blended but in all honesty it's barely noticeable on the skin and doesn't seem to last long. I have attempted to use this product to cover imperfections and it does a pretty mediocre job, it's not fantastic for covering redness and it definitely doesn't match up to a proper concealer.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I primarily wanted this pencil for lining the rims of my eyes but I think the formula is too soft and creamy for this and it tends to glide off my waterline very quickly and very easily. Overall I think this pencil is more suited to using as a skin highlighter rather than on the eyes, although the 'glow' effect isn't that noticeable. My search for a decent nude pencil eyeliner continues.</div>Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01132276662325890747noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5964904547657225092.post-68302499310411776212012-01-21T18:41:00.001+00:002012-01-21T18:43:05.743+00:00Look Nail Polish<div style="text-align: justify;">
I've been really impressed with the relatively new <i>Look </i>Make Up range, not only have the products received rave reviews from bloggers but the packaging is very cute and the range of nail polish colours is amazing! Vintage is such a beautiful shade and I think it's my favourite out of the three. The colour is a gorgeous light blue which looks pretty and fresh worn on the nails. I bought this shade because it resembles a certain Peridot by Chanel. As you can see from the photographs it looks different depending on the lighting, changing from golden green to a shimmering bronzed colour. This is such an interesting nail polish to wear and given that I don't own a green polish I felt it deserved a place in my collection. This is a great polish to buy if you love the look of Peridot but don't want to pay Chanel prices.</div>

Hotpants (love the name!) was my final nail polish purchase, I own nothing similar and really loved the gorgeous bronze colour of this polish. I find both Kimono and Hotpants dry quickly and look beautiful after just one coat (although I always apply two) the finish is shimmery and catches the light beautifully. I think this makes a great everyday colour and the bronze shade goes with anything.<br />
<br />
I am keen to try out other products from the <i>Look </i>range especially as I've heard great things about the eyeshadows, blushers and mascara. One thing I am disappointed about is that I can't seem to find a website for the range, also it doesn't seem to be available on the Superdrug website although they do have a facebook page. I really hope the range becomes available online soon as I would love to browse/buy online.</div>Aimeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01132276662325890747noreply@blogger.com9
