Johnsons Clean & Clear

After a week of feeling particularly under the weather I was in dire need of some exfoliation and popped into Boots to hunt for a facial scrub. I ended up purchasing two items from the relatively new Morning Energy range by Clean and Clear. I bought these two products when Boots were offering a 2 for £5 deal on the Clean and Clear line.

Clean & Clear Morning Energy Skin Energising Daily Facial Scrub £3.99, Boots

I didn't really expect much from this facial scrub, Clean & Clear is a brand I used religiously at school, but one I pay little attention to these days - it's marketed at teenagers after-all. I liked the fact it offers a gentle exfoliation, is oil free and contains vitamin C and ginseng, if I'm honest I was most attracted to it because of the bright orange packaging which screams summer - yes I am a marketing dream!

This facial scrub is kind of blah. Yes it smells nice, yes it gives you a gently exfoliation. Would I repurchase? No, because it's nothing special, pretty much standard Clean & Clear.

Clean & Clear Morning Energy Skin Brightening Daily Facial
Moisturiser £3.99, Boots

This was the other product that I decided to purchase as part of the 2 for £5 deal. I don't really know why I chose this item, Nivea lotion is my moisturiser of choice...always has been, always will be. I guess I reached for this as any product which claims to brighten my dull complexion is worth a shot.

I tried this with even lower expectations than the facial scrub, but it was lovely. The scent is amazing, it smells citrusy and fresh and literally makes my mouth water. As a moisturiser it is pretty good and sinks nicely into the skin without leaving my skin looking greasy. It does go someway to brightening my face, nothing groundbreaking but I do notice a difference as my complexion seems more glowy and awake. I have taken to applying this before my make up as the smell really wakes you up on the dark and gloomy mornings we've been having recently.

It hasn't quite replaced my precious Nivea just yet, but I will definitely continue to use this product and I think it will be lovely to take on holiday.
